Dr. ir. Dongbo Wang (Postdoctoral Researcher)
This person is working in this group since 2020.
Dr. Dongbo Wang received his Ph.D. in Material Physics and Chemistry from the Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2019, focusing on short-wave infrared (SWIR) semiconductor lasers and quantum cascade lasers (QCLs). His research covered epitaxial growth, waveguide design, micro-fabrication, and characterization, providing a strong foundation in laser physics and semiconductor engineering.
In 2020, he joined the Photonics Research Group at Ghent University, an imec-associated lab, where he began working on the heterogeneous integration of III-V materials onto silicon, germanium and silicon nitride circuits to develop high-performance on-chip photonic systems. His current research interests include mid-infrared QC lasers, telecom/datacom tunable lasers, and mode-locked optical frequency combs for applications in optical communication, spectroscopy, atomic optical clocks, and sensing.Specific Research Topics
