Nuria Teigell Beneitez received the Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2011. In 2012, she received the Master's degree in Photonics and Laser Technologies from the same university, for which she received the Special master's award. From 2012 till 2017, she performed her PhD research at the Centre for Microsystems Technology (Ghent University-imec). During this time, she was working on development of cost-effective polymer-based optical sensors for various applications, with the main focus on 2 projects: an FP7 European project on biosensors for point-of-care testing, and a IWT SBO project on structural health monitoring. Since February 2017 she is a post-doc researcher at the photonics department at Intec and is currently working on the AQUARIUS project which aims to develop a broadband tunable QCL based sensor for online and inline detection of contaminants in water. Her work deals with the development of a Ge-based photonic integrated circuit operating at a wavelength range around 6.5µm-7.5µm for real-time in-line absorption spectroscopy-based sensing.
