Stijn Poelman was born in Ghent, Belgium in 1995. He received his Master in Electrical Engineering at Ghent University in 2018. In September 2018, he joined the Photonics Research Group of Ghent University, where he is working as a PhD student on III/V-on-SiN mode-locked lasers.
